Book Fair this way signPlease come out and visit our annual Book Fair. We are open all day, every day this week during school hours. All proceeds help our school library. Tuesday, December 4 from 5-7pm we will have our Family night which is open to everyone. Any purchase during Family night of $30 or more comes with a gift. I can’t wait to see everyone at the Book Fair this week.

M RobbinsMs. Monica Robbins, a social studies teacher at South View Middle School, is currently in her 8th year as an educator. She earned her Bachelors of Science in Middle Grades Education (Reading K-12 and Social Studies 6-9) and a Bachelor’s of Arts in History from Fayetteville State Unversity. Currently, Ms. Robbins is anticipating the completion of her Masters in Educational Leadership from Gardner-Webb University in May 2019. Ms. Robbins has recently been honored with being named the South View Middle School Teacher of the Year as well as the South View Attendance District Teacher of the Year for the 2018-2019 school year. Ms. Robbins holds true to her personal motto of “Destined to Inspire” as she interacts and supports her students, and educators alike, on a daily basis.  Congratulations Ms. Monica Robbins. Your school and district family is very proud of you.

Winter sports are Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball, Wrestling, and Pep Squad.  On Tuesday, December 4, the Wrestling team is at home against Mac Williams MS, and the Girls and Boys Basketball teams are away at Mac Williams.  On Thursday, December 6, the Girls and Boys Basketball teams are at Home against Albritton, and the Wrestling team is away at Albritton. All contests start at 4 pm and cost $4 to enter. Good Luck to all teams.

Hurricane Just Ahead with Stormy SkiesThe Cumberland County Schools (CCS) is working closely with Cumberland County Emergency Management to monitor the path of Hurricane Florence. Based on weather projections and the State of Emergency issued by the Cumberland County Commissioners, there will be a three-hour early release for students on Wednesday, September 12. CCS’ Prime Time before- and after-school care program will close two hours after schools dismiss.
The school system will be closed on Thursday, September 13 and Friday, September 14 for all students and staff.
Currently, the projected make-up days are as follows:
Traditional Schools – Monday, October 22 & Wednesday, November 21
Year-Round Schools, Early College High Schools, & Cumberland Polytechnic High School – Tuesday, November 6 and Wednesday, November 21
“As always, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority,” said CCS’ Superintendent Dr. Marvin Connelly, Jr. “Based on our County Commissioners’ guidance during this State of Emergency, we encourage all staff members and students to adhere to the curfew, which will be effective beginning Wednesday. We hope everyone will take the necessary precautions to prepare for the storm and be safe. Additionally, we will continue to monitor the storm’s impact on Cumberland County and make any necessary decisions regarding school next week as soon as conditions allow.”
