The Cumberland County Board of Education has approved a waiver of Policy 4316 (Student Dress Code, School Uniform Requirements) for the 2020-2021 school year only, as allowed by Policy 2450 (Suspension of Board Policies), due to the financial impact of COVID-19. However, families still have the option to allow students to wear uniforms when Blended-Remote and Face-to-Face Learning is in operation. There will be no consequences imposed upon a student for a uniform violation during the 2020-2021 school year.

South View Middle School Bobcats

Nothing has been decided about the upcoming Fall Sports for CCS Middle Schools. As soon as we know something, we will let parents and students know.  However, parents and students can go to the Final Forms website (which replaced ArbiterLive) and register for athletic participation which is mandatory for all athletes/parents. For more information go to the Cumberland Parent Playbook.  If you have any questions,  you may email Staci Hollingsworth, our Athletic Director, at stacihollingsworth@ccs.k12.nc.us.

Military Purple StarNorth Carolina awards the Purple Star designation to schools that demonstrate military-friendly practices and a commitment to military students and families. Congratulations to South View Middle School for receiving such a prestigious award. “This designation informs military families that these schools are military friendly, taking additional measures to ensure their child’s transition and time spent in Cumberland County Schools takes their special circumstances like PCS moves, deployments, separation from extended family, etc., into consideration,” said Joseph Peek, CCS Military Family & Youth Liaison. “We truly commend these schools and all the work they are doing to support our military-connected students.”

National Federation Honoree AwardSouth View Middle School joins seven other schools in Cumberland County in achieving national recognition designed to promote professional development for middle/high school coaches by completing specific online education courses through the NFHS Learning Center. In earning Level 1 status, more than 90 percent of our coaches completed the core course “Fundamentals of Coaching” along with three of the Learning Center’s most significant courses – “Concussion in Sports,” “Sudden Cardiac Arrest” and “Protecting Students from Abuse.” Congratulations go out to our Athletic Director, Staci Hollingsworth, and our coaches for this significant step in prioritizing professional development. These courses will definitely help the coaches at our school handle the daily challenges in sports and should serve as a challenge for other schools.
