Frequently Asked Questions?

When can I come to the library?
SVMS’s Media Center is open to all students during school hours if they have a pass from their teacher. Students come with their ELA teacher on a fixed day to check out and return books.

How do I check out a book?
Students use their student ID #/ID Card to check out books. Students may not check out books if they owe fines or have overdue books. Students are allowed to check out two books at a time.

How long can I keep the books I check out?
The circulation period is two weeks. If students finish reading the book sooner, they may return it early; if students need a book for more than two weeks they may bring it in to renew it.

How can I use the library computers?
Students can use any computer in the media center for research or projects/presentations.  We have a set of 30 Chromebooks available for student use.  We do have an upstairs section of the Media Center which is for offices and storage, and students are not allowed in that part. Students must have an Internet Permission Form signed to be on any computer in the school.

May I print?
Only school work or school-related research may be printed. Students must get permission before printing.

May I pass through the library to get from class to class?
The library or library staircase is not a hallway or a shortcut, and students are never to be in the upstairs section of the Media Center without permission.

How do I access ebooks from my library and other libraries?
Go to the Destiny website which pulls up all the schools in Cumberland County.  Choose which school you would like to visit by clicking on the name. Click the Catalog tab. Type in ebooks and press enter. Choose the ebook you want to read by clicking on the name of the book, then click on Read Online. Also, you can go to E-SEBCO.
